At Fort Knox Locks, we believe in using our success to make a positive impact in the world. We are committed to giving back and making a difference in the lives of others. That’s why we have partnered with Great Mercy Orphanage in Kenya to support their mission of providing care and education to children in need. One of our owners has personally traveled to Kenya to volunteer their time and skills, working on projects that help fulfill the orphanage’s goals.

Through our support of Great Mercy Orphanage, we aim to bring hope and joy to the children who call it home.
Barbie Odom, co-owner of Fort Knox Locks, has visited Great Mercy Orphanage in Kenya multiple times, strengthening our bond with the orphanage and deepening our commitment to their mission. The orphanage is home to around 180 children and also accepts paying students from the community, thanks to its reputation for excellence. Despite their limited resources, the children’s joy and hope for the future are truly inspiring. We are committed to helping improve their facilities from simple wood structures to more durable buildings, ensuring a safer and more comfortable environment.
In addition to improving the facilities, we’ve supported the orphanage in acquiring additional land to grow their own food, which enhances their self-sufficiency and sustainability. Founded by a Christian woman, Great Mercy Orphanage provides a welcoming and inclusive environment, embracing children of all faiths, including Muslim Somali refugees. This approach fosters a diverse community united in their pursuit of education and a better future for every child.
We feel truly blessed by the success of Fort Knox Locks, and it has allowed us to support the incredible work of Great Mercy Orphanage in Kenya.
